Emigration and your KPN subscription
I'm moving abroad. What do I do?
Moving abroad or back home, permanently or temporarily, can be quite a hassle. Find out here what you have to do with your KPN subscription when you're emigrating.
What to arrange when you're emigrating
Inform us of your emigration by filling out a form. Keep this on hand:
1 of these documents to prove you're moving abroad:
Proof of deregistration from your municipality
Your work contract
A declaration from your foreign educational institution
Your KPN customer number
Up-to-date contact information (this can be a foreign phone number)
What happens after submitting the form?
After you submit the form, we'll check your information. If we have any questions, you'll get a call from us.
Is the document approved and all of your information in order? And did you choose to end your contract? You'll get a confirmation e-mail within 1 week.
When you choose to end your contract...
We will end your contract on the date of your emigration.
We won't charge you subscription fees after that day.
We will refund what we owe you.
Did your final invoice before emigration cover a longer period? Please pay the bill. The refund will be automatic if you have no outstanding payments.
Returning your equipment
If you had a mobile subscription and you paid off your phone, you don't need to return anything. What you bought is yours.
Did you have an internet subscription, with or without tv? Then you need to return the KPN equipment. Depending on the services you used, you'll generally return your modem (Experia Box or KPN Box) and KPN TV boxes, as well as their cables and accessories. But you may keep anything you bought yourself.
Frequently asked questions about emigration
Can I inform you of my emigration in a different way?
>
If you can't use the form, you can mail it to us in a letter. Make sure to include everything that's required from you in the form. But instead of submitting the form, mail everything to this address:
KPN Klantenservice t.a.v. Opzeggen Postbus 235 2400 AE Alphen aan den Rijn
Keep in mind that it takes longer to process requests sent in the post. If you can use the online form, please do. It is the fastest way to arrange your emigration.
Can I keep my number?
>
You can keep your mobile number if you switch over to prepaid. You can indicate it in the form. Or contact us if you have questions.
Can I transfer my contract to someone else?
>
Yes, you can. Someone else can take over the contract for your KPN services with a contractovername. Arranging it is different for home and mobile subscriptions. Check out the page with more information. Or call us.
If you have a mobile subscription with a phone, and you got it with a device credit agreement (toestelkrediet)? You can only transfer your contract with your MBs, minutes and texts. Your device credit agreement is a personal contract. You still have to pay that off in one go beforehand.
